Tips On Dating A Filipina

By Peter Finch

Your first date went smoothly, and you want to see more of her. But just because things clicked on your first date does not mean you can relax and take her for granted. In the romantic and sentimental mind of a Filipina, each date is an exciting and thrilling event, so try to make your dates as memorable as ever.

Here are some tips to keep the excitement level going up on your dates:

Smell nice for her.

Nothing turns a woman off so fast than unpleasant body odor. It is not the manly sweat your body exudes (for some it adds more appeal) but bad breath and body odor which could be the result of sheer neglect of soap and water. She has probably spent the whole afternoon in front of the mirror and would be disappointed if her date turns up unshaven, looking dirty and smelling.

Listen, listen and listen.

Listening to your date can help you get to know her better (vice versa). Ask casual questions, but do not prepare a long sheet of questionnaire and tick off the ones she already answered. If you are at ease with each other, conversation should flow naturally and without strain and effort on both sides.

Compliment her.

When you are out on a date, your Filipina girlfriend will still be very nervous and self-conscious, make her feel relaxed and compliment her honestly. Remember she has gone to great lengths to please you and complimenting her will add to her self-confidence and she will feel comfortable with you.

Be a gentleman.

Coming from a conservative culture the Filipinas expect to be treated like ladies. Be a gentleman, open and hold doors or pull her chair out for her. She will value and appreciate these simple gestures. Filipina ladies like the special feeling they get if you treat her like a princess. Going out on a date with a Filipina should be fun and relaxing. She would be eager to hear stories about your growing up years, your family, hometown, your place as this is a whole new world for her, a fantasy place she has not seen.

Time allowance

If being on time is a big issue from where you come from, make a little adjustment when you are dating a Filipina. Do not holler at her ear or walk out if she turns up later than scheduled. Have you ever heard of Filipino time? Stretch your patience if she is a few minutes late because if she appears on the dot she is afraid you would think she is over-eager. Even if she is already in her 50s and has been married before, she will still be playing "pakipot" or hard to get.

Pay for the date.

Pay for the date because she expects you to. Except for the highly-educated ladies who will offer to split the bill with you, conservative Filipina ladies would think she would lose face if she pays for your date. To her it would be tantamount to spending her own money just to have a date.

And most important of all, bring a big dosage of sense of humor with you. It comes in handy especially during this stage when you are putting up the foundations of a future relationship.

Your First Date With A Filipina Lady

By Peter Finch

So you're going out on your first date. This is your first testing of the waters, and you could not stop a Filipina lady from feeling nervous - especially if this is her first time to go out on a date with a foreigner. She will be apprehensive because this first date could "make or break" your future together. Here are some tips to make a good impression on your first date with a Filipina lady.

Look and smell good. Pay attention to your personal grooming. If you appear at her doorsteps as presentable as you can be, she will be very proud to be seen with you in public. Remember her family matters. If your girlfriend is living with her family and you are fetching her from her house, take a few minutes to chat with her parents or siblings. It will make them feel secure to think that their daughter is in good hands with you.

Pick a public venue for your first date, like a downtown or a beachside restaurant, concert, or a show. Never by any means insist that you take her to your hotel room.

Do not act as though you are over-eager to get your hands on her, no matter how long you have been familiar with each other in the chat room.

Do not try to be too forward with a Filipina especially on this first date. She will feel offended that you do not respect her. You may get the shock of your life if she slaps you in public or walks out on you. Your date needs to feel safe and secure with you. Do not restrict her and instruct her to turn off her cellular phone, as she would consider this as her lifeline "in case things get out of hand" while you are together. You, after all are a stranger.

Take an interest in your date but do not ask a lot of questions, like her past relationships, or dig for personal information that will only embarrass her. Talk only about things in general, and leave the investigative questioning to the FBI.

Do not ply her with drinks. The majority of Filipina ladies, especially those from the conservative families very rarely drink, if at all. A glass or two of wine or beer may mean nothing to the women in your country but for somebody not used to it, it may spell a different story. If you are dining out, bring your table manners with you. It is a big turn off for a Filipina lady to see you talk with your mouth full, or eat with your mouth open, or slurp your food. One more thing, she will expect you to pick up the bill.

To kiss or not to kiss? Most Filipina ladies would not expect a goodnight kiss from you especially as this is your first date. Do not be disappointed if you try and she turns her head away because she may be undecided between wanting to receive your kiss or fear that you will think she is cheap.

After your date, act every inch like a gentleman and take her back to her house. Thank her for going out with you but be honest and do not make promises if you have no plans to see her again. Remember, a successful first date is your key to succeeding dates in the future.

Marrying a Filipina - What to Expect

By Amarind Tan

What makes Filipina women so right for marriage? If you're thinking about marrying a Filipina, then here are ten reasons why you should do exactly just that.

Filipinas are hospitable. When they have guests over, you can be sure that you are treated like a VIP. They take pride in their homes. For them, building a warm, safe and loving atmosphere is an important part of being a wife. The home is a symbol for them, so screaming or breaking furniture is not really a Filipina's cup of tea.

Filipinas value family. Filipinas give the utmost importance to family. The value of having a loving family has been instilled in the hearts of Filipinas growing up. The family serves as a cornerstone for them. Once committed, the Filipina would put her family first before anything - career, money, or friends. Rest assured that a Filipina will do everything to protect and keep her family together.

Filipinas are God-fearing. More than ninety percent of Filipinos are Christians or Catholics. Usually, Filipino children are brought up going to church or knowing the concept of fearing God. So, most Filipinas are definitely devoted to their religion, using God as their anchor and not money or power.

Filipinas have high regard for marriage. Whether you were married in the church or by a judge, the Filipina will always value the sanctity of marriage. In the Philippines, there is no law for divorce - just annulment or legal separation. This makes sense with a culture that gives utmost worth to matrimony and the union of two souls. Marriage to a Filipina is a life-long commitment - once she sets her heart upon marrying someone, chances are, she will be sticking to him for life. Filipinas think that marriage should not be played around with because it is a gift from God.

Filipinas are educated. Filipinos think that having a good education is as important as eating right. Filipino parents would say that they are blessed when all of their children have graduated college. Filipinas are proud of their accomplishments. Unlike other Asian societies, the Filipinos are open to females doing well in any field - business, medicine or male-dominated fields like engineering or information technology. It is common for Filipinas to juggle both being career women and being homemakers - they do quite a good job at the balancing act.

Filipinas know when to be submissive. They say Asian women are submissive. Filipina women are submissive too - but not all the time. Filipinas know their place when it comes to the household, but they won't be afraid to step up when their family needs it. Filipinas will show you their care and love openly and will provide quiet understanding to their family. Filipinas are very tactful - they know how to be composed especially during social situations. They speak politely and carefully but not without substance.

Filipinas are naturally beautiful. Most Filipinas are a mix of Spanish, Chinese, Malay and other races. The Philippines is a melting pot of different races and that makes a Filipina beautiful and unique.

If you are considering marrying one, these reasons will give you an idea about your future with a Filipina wife. If you are looking for a marriage that you can cherish forever and if you want a loyal companion in life, you'll never go wrong with marrying a Filipina.

Does Your Age Make A Difference To A Filipina Woman?

By Peter Finch

For most of the Filipina ladies, age does not matter. Since easy internet access became popular and affordable to the average Filipina girl, the sight of young girls chatting and eventually marrying foreigners who are 20 or even 30 years their senior.

The 4M idea (stands for "Matandang Mayaman Madaling Mamatay" which means rich old man who will die soon) became a famous joke on the streets whenever a sexy 20-year old Filipina lady pass by holding the hands of a 50-year old foreigner. Chances are he has been divorced once, twice or even thrice but she takes no notice of the joke or the speculations of the people. It is her own happiness and future she is thinking of.

The age gap actually makes older men more desirable to younger ladies because for one, they are already settled and financially stable. Filipina girls also consider older men as more mature and less promiscuous because they have had their share of fun in their younger days.

For a young Filipina lady, age is not a barrier to relationships and even marriage. Filipinas are romantic at heart and they believe that when love strikes, (or necessity, whichever it is) age does not matter. They do not consider your advanced age to be a burden to them in the future because they look at you as a lifetime partner and will be there for you "for better or worse".

You may notice when you look at profiles of Filipina ladies in dating sites that they do not really put too much weight on a man's age. What is important for them is more emotional involvement and the older a man gets, the higher the maturity level she can expect from him.

Filipina ladies, especially those who grew up having to take care of younger siblings know what responsibility is all about and would naturally look for an older man who would take care of her when she marries. Usually, she is forced to take the role of surrogate mother to her younger siblings when her parents have to work outside the home to earn money for their daily needs. Sad to say that for some families, the poorer they are, the more children they produce and statistics can prove this.

Families whose parents have wide age gaps and yet able to maintain harmony in the home also serve as role models for their female children, so when the girls grew up, they will naturally look for the harmony which their parents shared despite the age difference.

A Filipina does not see the advanced age or physical attributes of a foreigner as a hindrance to marriage. She will be happy to serve her husband and submit to his reasonable demands, as long as he provides, cares for her and treats her well. Her priority is to be respected her as a wife and not as an investment take care of him in his retirement years.
